Description
Louis XVI style mantel. 
Typical decor of the style: Rais-de-coeur, frieze of ovals, garlands of leaves and falling flowers. 
The sheathed jambs are adorned with fluting and acanthus leaves. One of the jambs is adorned with the head of a hunting dog in profile, the other with the head of a hare, both facing each other. 
The main lintel is topped by a pediment known as a gendarme's hat. It is adorned with a green ceramic medallion representing an antique scene.
