DESCRIPTION :
Dated from the 19th century, Ca. 1870, Louis 15 style oak overmantel fireplace with a beveled mirror. The lintel has a rich carved decoration of a median shell provided with flowers and foliage flanked by frames. The jambs worked in sheaths are adorned with rockeries, flowers, shells and windings. The upper part of the trumeau is decorated with a rocaille shell and flowers reminiscent of those of the lintel. This fireplace is a fine example of Rococo style, typical of the Louis 15 period, where we observe in detail a measured asymmetry where flowers, scrolls, acanthus leaves twist, curl and mingle.
